1. Introduction
Jika, Inc. (d/b/a Skio) ("Skio," "we," "us," or "our") is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Recharge Inc. We make available a SaaS-based platform to help Shopify merchants manage their customers' subscription purchasing experience, including subscription management, customer portals, loyalty and referral programs, AI-powered upsell and retention tools, and related analytics (the "Services").
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share personal information about:
Merchants using our Services ("Merchants");
Merchant Customers ("Merchant Customers");
Visitors to https://skio.com; and
Other business partners.
Our Services are primarily designed for businesses. When Merchant Customers use our Services, we collect personal information on behalf of the relevant Merchant, who is responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable privacy laws. Merchant Customers with privacy questions should contact the relevant Merchant directly. If the Merchant's store is hosted on an e-commerce platform, you may also want to review that platform's privacy policy.
By using our Website or Services, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy, subject to our Terms of Service.
2. Information Skio Collects
Note: Merchants may use information collected through our Services for their own distinct purposes. Merchant Customers should contact the Merchant directly with any privacy-related questions.
Information Skio Collects on Behalf of Merchants
Merchant Customer Identifiers: names, email addresses, phone numbers, shipping addresses, and billing addresses.
Purposes: To provide our Services.
Merchant Customer Commercial Information: last 4 digits of credit cards, PayPal (or equivalent) information, products ordered or considered, purchase and subscription history, and other order information.
Purposes: To bill Merchant Customers and fund Merchants as necessary to provide our Services. Full credit card information is not collected or processed by us directly but by the PCI-compliant third-party payment processor selected by each Merchant. We may anonymize, de-identify, and aggregate order information for research and industry reporting purposes.
Merchant Customer Transactional Behavior: subscription start date, cancellation date, rescheduling, swapping, pausing, Build-a-Box selections, upsell interactions, Quick Actions usage, and other subscription lifecycle actions.
Purposes: To communicate transactional behaviors to Merchants as needed to provide the Services, power retention and churn prevention features, and support AI-driven recommendations where enabled by the Merchant.
Information Skio Collects on Its Own Behalf
Website Activity: how and when you visit skio.com, browsing history, and network information including IP address, and where resolved, business email and LinkedIn profile (via Vector).
Purpose: To provide and improve our Services. For details on cookies and tracking technologies, see Section 7.3 below.
Merchant Portal Activity: account traffic monitoring, click history, dashboard usage, and analytics interactions.
Purpose: To provide and improve our Services.
Network Information: basic computer and network traffic information in line with IETF specifications.
Purpose: For security and anti-fraud purposes, including identifying and blocking fraudulent connections and enabling user authentication.
Contact Information: names, emails, phone numbers, employee role, and time zones of Merchant and business partner employees.
Purpose: To provide our Services, communicate with Merchants about their account, send marketing communications, format invoices, build and maintain contact lists, and advertise our Services.
Personal information in other cases where you have permitted us.
Purpose: For purposes disclosed when requesting permission.
3. Sources of Personal Information
In the preceding twelve (12) months, we have collected Personal Information from the following categories of sources:
E-commerce platforms (primarily Shopify)
Our Services products
Merchants
Business and advertising partners
Public sources such as social media platforms
4. How We Disclose Personal Information
We may disclose Personal Information to the following parties:
Affiliates. Our corporate parent Recharge Inc., subsidiaries, and affiliates, for purposes consistent with this Policy.
Vendors, Service Providers, and Business Partners. Companies retained in connection with providing our Services.
Merchants. We disclose Personal Information we receive with the relevant Merchant in order to provide our Services.
Advertising Partners. We advertise our Services through partners including Google, Meta, and LinkedIn. Some partners are members of the Network Advertising Initiative (http://optout.networkadvertising.org) or the Digital Advertising Alliance (http://optout.aboutads.info). For the avoidance of doubt, we do not share any personal information collected on behalf of Merchants with advertising partners. We share cookie data and, where visitor identification is enabled, resolve contact information (such as name, business email, and LinkedIn profile) collected directly from our Website with advertising partners. This sharing occurs only for visitors who have consented to advertising cookies.
Professional Advisors. Lawyers, auditors, bankers, and insurers, where necessary in the course of professional services rendered to us.
Public Authorities. Law enforcement, government authorities, and private parties as we believe in good faith to be necessary or appropriate to comply with law, respond to legal process, or protect rights and safety.
Business Transferees. Acquirers and other relevant participants in business transactions (or negotiations) involving a corporate divestiture, merger, consolidation, acquisition, reorganization, sale, or other disposition of all or any portion of the business, assets, or equity interests of Skio or Recharge (including in connection with a bankruptcy or similar proceeding).
With Your Consent. We may disclose your Personal Information to additional parties with your consent.
5. Our Purposes for Disclosing Personal Information
Operating Services and Providing Support. To provide and operate our Services, communicate with you about your use of the Services, provide troubleshooting and technical support, respond to your inquiries, fulfill your orders and requests, process payments, and for similar service and support purposes.
Business Transfers. If we or our affiliates are or may be acquired, merged with, or invested in by another company, or if any of our assets are or may be transferred, we may transfer information we have collected. We may share certain Personal Information with lenders, auditors, and third-party advisors, including attorneys and consultants, as part of that process.
Marketing. We may disclose personal information of Website visitors, including cookie data and, where visitor identification is enabled, resolved contact information, to third-party ad networks to serve advertisements on third-party sites or media. This sharing occurs only for visitors who have consented to advertising tracking.
Legal Process. To comply with applicable law, a judicial proceeding, court order, or other legal process.
Protection. To investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud, threats to safety, violations of our Terms of Service, or as evidence in litigation.
6. What Types of Personal Information We Disclose
Our vendors will only collect, use, and disclose your Personal Information to the extent necessary to allow them to perform the services they provide to us.
We may share Merchant Customer names, emails, phone numbers, and shipping and billing address information with the relevant e-commerce platform to keep account information synchronized.
We may share credit card and billing address information with payment gateways to process transactions.
We may share shipping address information with address validation and fulfillment services.
We may share your Personal Information with other vendors if you have asked us to do so or have given your consent.
7. Your Rights and Choices
7.1 How You Can Request to Access, Delete, or Update Your Personal Information
You can request to access, delete, or update Personal Information at any time by emailing us at [email protected] with: (1) first and last name; (2) email address; and (3) phone number. We may request additional information in order to verify or process your request.
For Merchant Customers, please contact the relevant Merchant to request to access, delete, or update your Personal Information.
7.2 How You Can Withdraw Consent
You may withdraw your consent and opt out of our collection and use of your Personal Information at any time, free of charge, by contacting us at [email protected] or by mailing us at:

For Merchant Customers, please contact the Merchant to withdraw your consent and opt out. Withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of processing before you withdrew your consent. To authorize an agent to withdraw consent or make an opt-out request on your behalf, please send us a written authorization signed by you and the authorized agent.
7.3 Cookies and Online Tracking
We use cookies, local storage technologies, and web beacons on our Website. You can limit online tracking in the following ways:
Using the cookie consent banner presented when you first visit our Website
Updating your cookie preferences at any time on our site.
Blocking cookies in your browser settings.
Using privacy-focused browsers or plugins such as Privacy Badger, Ghostery, or uBlock Origin.
Opting out via Google (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout), the Digital Advertising Alliance (https://optout.aboutads.info), or the Network Advertising Initiative (https://optout.networkadvertising.org).
Global Privacy Control (GPC). We honor opt-out preference signals, including the Global Privacy Control signal, as required by applicable law, including California and Colorado law. If your browser sends a GPC signal to our Website, we will treat it as a valid opt-out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising purposes.
Do Not Track. There is no accepted standard on how to respond to Do Not Track signals, and our systems do not currently recognize such signals. You may disable certain tracking as described above.
7.4 EEA and UK Privacy Rights
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom (UK), you have the following rights. If you are a Merchant Customer, please contact the relevant Merchant directly.
Right to be Informed: You have the right to know what Personal Information we collect about you and how we use it. This Policy is how we communicate that.
Right to Access: You have the right to obtain a copy of your Personal Information.
Right to Rectification: You have the right to request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): Under certain conditions, you have the right to request deletion of your Personal Information.
Right to Object to Processing: You have the right to object to processing of your Personal Information, including for marketing purposes.
Right to Restrict Processing: Under certain conditions, you have the right to restrict the processing of your Personal Information.
Right to Data Portability: Under certain conditions, you have the right to request we transfer your Personal Information to another organization or directly to you.
EU Data Act - Data Portability and Switching: If the EU Data Act applies to your use of Skio, you may export your data at any time and switch to another provider. Please complete your export before canceling your account. Skio will provide reasonable transition assistance and maintain service continuity until account closure.
Right to Withdraw Consent: If you have provided consent for a specific processing purpose, you have the right to withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
Right to Lodge a Complaint: You have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority in your country of residence, place of work, or where an incident took place.
How to Exercise Your Rights: You may exercise these rights by contacting us as set forth in Section 16. We will respond within one month of receiving your request. We may require you to verify your identity before responding.
7.5 California Privacy Rights
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CCPA/CPRA"), California residents have the following rights. If you are a Merchant Customer, please contact the relevant Merchant directly.
Right to Know: You may request information about the categories and specific pieces of Personal Information we have collected about you, the sources from which it was collected, our business or commercial purposes for collecting or sharing it, and the categories of third parties with whom we have disclosed it (up to twice per year).
Right to Access: You may request a copy of the specific pieces of Personal Information we have collected about you.
Right to Delete: Subject to certain conditions and exceptions, you may request deletion of Personal Information we have collected about you.
Right to Correct: You have the right to request correction of inaccurate Personal Information.
Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing: We do not sell Personal Information. We do not share Personal Information accessed or collected through our product or Services. We do collect ad targeting cookie data on our Website and share it with advertising partners, which may be considered "sharing" as broadly defined by the CCPA. We honor GPC signals as opt-out requests. For the avoidance of doubt, we do not share any Personal Information collected on behalf of Merchants with advertising partners.
Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: We do not engage in activities that trigger this right.
Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
"Shine the Light" Disclosure: We do not disclose Personal Information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
Authorized Agent: You may designate an authorized agent to submit requests on your behalf by providing us with written permission.
Submitting Requests: You may exercise your rights as set forth in Section 7.1. Merchant Customers must contact the relevant Merchant directly.
7.6 Other US State Privacy Rights
Residents of the following states may have rights similar to those described above under their respective comprehensive state privacy laws: Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Iowa, Delaware, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Minnesota, Maryland, Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky, Rhode Island, and other states as their laws take effect. These rights generally include the right to access, correct, delete, and opt out of certain processing of personal data, and the right to data portability. Where applicable, we honor opt-out preference signals, including the Global Privacy Control, as required by state law. We do not discriminate against you for exercising any privacy rights.

8. Legal Basis for Processing Personal Information
If you are located in the EEA or UK, we only process your Personal Information when we have a valid legal basis, such as:
Consent. You have consented to the use of your Personal Information, for example to send you marketing communications or to use cookies and similar technologies.
Contractual Necessity. We need your Personal Information to provide you with the Services, including to respond to your inquiries.
Compliance with a Legal Obligation. We have a legal obligation to use your Personal Information, for example to comply with tax and accounting obligations.
Legitimate Interests. We or a third party have a legitimate interest in using your Personal Information, including for product development, internal analytics, and improving the safety, security, and performance of our Services. We rely on this basis only where our interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.
9. International Data Transfers
Our Services are hosted in the United States. If you access our Services from outside the United States, your Personal Information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may not have the same data protection laws as your jurisdiction.
If you are based in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, your Personal Information may be transferred to countries that have not been determined by the European Commission (or equivalent authority) to provide an adequate level of data protection. In such cases, we rely on appropriate safeguards, including:
EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (DPF), UK Extension to the EU-U.S. DPF, and Swiss-U.S. DPF, where applicable and certified; and
Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission.

10. Security
We have implemented precautions designed to protect the Personal Information we collect from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Please be aware that despite our efforts, no data security measures can guarantee security. You should take steps to protect against unauthorized access to your password, phone, and computer by signing off after using a shared computer, choosing a robust and unique password, and keeping your login credentials private. We are not responsible for any lost, stolen, or compromised passwords or for any activity on your account via unauthorized password activity.
11. AI Policy
Skio uses AI technologies to improve merchant and subscriber experiences, including AI-powered subscription recommendation engines, Smart Upsells through Shopify, and analytics. We are committed to ensuring that all AI-driven data processing complies with applicable laws, including the GDPR and EU AI Act for EU customers, the CCPA/CPRA for California residents, and other relevant regulations.
We prioritize privacy, fairness, and accountability in our AI use. We do not share personal data for AI purposes without appropriate consent. Data used for Skio AI-powered features is aggregated or anonymized and does not contain personal data.
12. Children's Privacy
Our Services are not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect, maintain, or use Personal Information from children under 13. If you learn that a child has provided us with Personal Information in violation of this Policy, please notify us at [email protected] and we will take steps to delete such information.
By using our Website, you represent that you are at least the age of majority in your state or province of residence.
13. External Links
When you use our Website and Services, you may encounter links to other websites we do not own or control. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those third-party sites. You should review their privacy policies before proceeding.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Policy is current as of the date set forth above. We may modify this Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page, and the revised version will be effective when posted. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this Policy.
