privacy Privacy Policy Last updated: July 2026 01Overview Zipdoc is built around doing as much work as possible in your browser instead of on a server. When you open, extract, create, or convert a ZIP file, that file is processed locally on your device — it is not uploaded anywhere, and Zipdoc never sees or stores its contents. 02Account Information If you create an account, we use Firebase Authentication (a Google service) to manage sign-in. Depending on how you sign up, we may receive: The email address and password you provide, or Basic profile information (name, email, profile photo) if you sign in with Google We use this only to identify your account and associate it with features like saved share links. 03Secure File Sharing The Share Files tool works differently from the rest of Zipdoc, since sharing requires files to leave your device. Here's specifically what happens: Files are encrypted in your browser (AES) before they're uploaded — the encryption key is never sent to our servers The decryption key lives only in the share link itself, after the # symbol, which browsers do not transmit to servers Shared files are limited to 10MB total and are automatically deleted 7 days after creation Anyone with the complete link can decrypt and download the shared files, so treat share links like a password 04Google Drive Integration If you choose to save extracted files to Google Drive, Zipdoc requests the limited drive.file permission scope. This only allows Zipdoc to create and manage files that it creates on your behalf — it cannot view, edit, or access the rest of your Drive. 05Cookies & Analytics Zipdoc uses Google Analytics to understand how the site is used, and Google AdSense to show ads that help keep the tool free. Both services may set cookies and use similar technologies in your browser. You can review how Google handles this data in Google's Privacy & Terms. 06Data Retention Shared files and their metadata are automatically removed 7 days after upload. Account information is retained until you delete your account or request removal by contacting us. 07Children's Privacy Zipdoc is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. 08Changes to This Policy We may update this policy from time to time as Zipdoc's features change.
