What is a Data Processing Agreement? A DPA is a legally binding document that defines: The scope and purpose of data processing The categories of personal data being processed The rights and obligations of both the data controller (you) and data processor (HeySummit) Security measures and data protection protocols Procedures for data breaches and incident response Terms for data retention and deletion Who needs a Data Processing Agreement? If you are using HeySummit to process personal data of UK or EU residents, or if your organization is subject to GDPR or similar data protection regulations, you will need a DPA in place. This includes: Organizations hosting events that collect attendee personal data Companies using HeySummit for marketing or lead generation purposes Educational institutions managing student or participant data Any entity that acts as a data controller when using our services Data Processing and Subprocessors Our DPA covers the processing of personal data including names, email addresses, IP addresses, event registration data, usage data, and support queries for data subjects such as event attendees, speakers, organisers, and team members. The agreement also includes transparency about our trusted subprocessors: Amazon Web Services (AWS) – Infrastructure and hosting services Stripe – Payment processing services Intercom – Customer support communications platform The list of subprocessors may be updated from time to time. Customers will be notified where legally required.
