CompeteIQ ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of your information. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you use our competitive intelligence platform, website (competeiq.io), and related services (collectively, the "Service").
Your data is your data. We never sell it to third parties and only access it with your permission or to resolve security and quality assurance issues.

2.1 Information You Provide
Account Information: Name, email address, company name, job title, and phone number when you create an account or request a demo
Customer Data: Competitive intelligence content, battle cards, competitor profiles, market data, and other information you input into the Service
Communications: Information you provide when contacting us for support, submitting feedback, or subscribing to our newsletter
Payment Information: Billing details processed through our payment providers (we do not store credit card numbers directly)
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, time spent on the Service, and interaction patterns
Device Information: Browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and IP address
Cookies and Tracking: We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain sessions, remember preferences, and analyze usage patterns. See Section 8 for details.
2.3 Information from Third-Party Integrations
When you connect third-party services (such as Salesforce, Slack, or Microsoft Teams), we may receive data from those services in accordance with your integration settings and the respective third-party privacy policies.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
Process and fulfill your subscription
Send transactional communications (account confirmations, security alerts, support responses)
Analyze usage patterns to improve the Service and user experience
Detect, prevent, and address security issues, fraud, and technical problems
Comply with legal obligations
We do not use your Customer Data to train machine learning models, sell to third parties, or for any purpose other than providing the Service to you.
4. Data Security
CompeteIQ implements comprehensive security measures to protect your information, aligned with ISO 27001:2013, OWASP, and the Microsoft Cloud Security Benchmark:
Encryption in Transit: All data sessions are protected by advanced TLS protocols with 2,048-bit keys (Qualys SSL Labs A+ rating)
Encryption at Rest: All non-public databases are encrypted using Transparent Data Encryption (TDE)
Infrastructure: Hosted on Microsoft Azure with SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001-certified data centers in the United States (US South Central primary, Northwest DR)
Access Controls: Principle of least privilege, unique credentials for all personnel, client-level Azure isolation
Monitoring: 24/7/365 security monitoring via Azure Security Center and Microsoft Defender for Cloud
Vulnerability Management: Biannual penetration testing via third-party tools; Azure-managed automatic patching
Incident Response: Structured incident response program with defined process flows, immediate notification for breaches, and status updates every 8-12 hours during incidents
CompeteIQ is a Salesforce AppExchange-certified platform and has passed the Salesforce.com Security Review.
5. Data Storage and Retention
Location: Your data is stored in Microsoft Azure data centers in the United States
Backups: Critical systems are backed up with hourly/daily Azure Backup snapshots
Retention: We retain your Customer Data for the duration of your subscription. Upon termination, data is made available for export and subsequently deleted
No Local Storage: No client data is stored on employee endpoints or removable media. CompeteIQ is entirely cloud-based
6. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information only in the following circumstances:
Service Providers: With trusted third-party service providers who assist in operating the Service (e.g., Microsoft Azure for hosting), bound by confidentiality agreements and data processing agreements
Third-Party Integrations: When you explicitly enable integrations with platforms such as Salesforce, Slack, or Microsoft Teams, data is shared as necessary to provide the integration functionality
Legal Requirements: When required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with appropriate notice to affected users
With Your Consent: When you explicitly authorize the sharing of information

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements

We provide product features, corporate protocols, and legal documents to help you comply with GDPR
Data transfers outside the EEA are protected by appropriate safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses
Our sub-processors are bound by data processing agreements in compliance with GDPR requirements
10. Children's Privacy
The Service is not intended for individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected information from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on our website with a revised "Last Updated" date. For significant changes, we may also provide notice via email or through the Service.
