NBSE Consulting ("NBSE", "we", "us", or "our") operates the Octopart electronic component search application (the "App") available through the ChatGPT platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App processes, how it is used, who it is shared with, how long it is retained, and the choices available to users.
By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
I. Information We Process
The App processes limited information necessary to fulfill electronic component pricing and availability queries.
Information You Provide
When you interact with the App through ChatGPT, we receive the inputs required to perform your request, including:
Electronic component identifiers such as manufacturer part numbers (MPNs) or component descriptions
Optional parameters such as requested quantity or preferred currency
These inputs are used only to retrieve relevant component pricing and availability information.
Information Provided by OpenAI
The ChatGPT platform provides certain contextual fields with each request:
Anonymized Conversation Identifier (openai/conversationId)
An anonymized identifier representing the current conversation session.
Anonymized Ephemeral User Identifier (openai/ephemeralUserId)
A rotating anonymized identifier assigned by OpenAI. This identifier cannot be used to identify a user and is not linked to an OpenAI account.
Approximate Location (openai/userLocation)
Country, region, and timezone provided by OpenAI. This information is used to return regionally relevant component pricing and distributor availability.
These values are provided by OpenAI and are limited to the context fields made available through the platform.
Information We Do Not Collect
The App does not collect or process the following categories of personal data:
Names
Email addresses
Account credentials
Payment information
Government-issued identifiers
Precise location data
Device identifiers
Cookies or tracking technologies
Health or biometric information
II. How We Use Information
We process the information described above for the following purposes:
Providing the Service
User queries and location context are sent in real time to the Nexar / Octopart API to retrieve component pricing, distributor stock levels, and availability data relevant to the user's region.
Regional Relevance
Approximate location (country and region) is used to determine appropriate currency and distributor availability when retrieving component pricing data.
Service Operation and Analytics
We maintain operational logs containing:
search queries
anonymized conversation and user identifiers
approximate location context
timestamps and request metadata
These logs are used for:
monitoring service performance
diagnosing errors
measuring tool usage
improving reliability and functionality
Legal Compliance
Information may also be processed as necessary to comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal processes.
III. Information Sharing
We share information only with service providers necessary to operate the App.
Nexar, Inc. (Octopart API)
User search queries and resolved country are transmitted to Nexar's API to retrieve component pricing, stock availability, and distributor data.

Google LLC (Cloud Infrastructure)
Operational logs are stored in Google Cloud Platform for system monitoring and analytics.
These logs may contain:
search queries
anonymized identifiers
location context
request metadata
The anonymized identifiers and OpenAI context fields are not transmitted to Nexar.
No Sale or Advertising Use
NBSE does not sell personal data and does not share information for advertising, marketing, or behavioral profiling purposes.
IV. Data Retention
Operational logs containing search queries, anonymized identifiers, location context, and request metadata are retained for up to 12 months in Google Cloud infrastructure.
After this period, the logs are automatically deleted.
V. User Rights and Controls
Users may request information about operational log data associated with their use of the App or request deletion of retained data.

Because the App receives anonymized identifiers from OpenAI, NBSE may require additional information to locate associated records.
VI. Tool Inputs and Outputs
To provide transparency about how the App operates within the ChatGPT platform, the following summarizes the data processed by the App.
Inputs Received by the App
Component part numbers or text descriptions submitted by the user
Optional parameters such as quantity or currency
OpenAI-provided context fields:
anonymized conversation ID
anonymized ephemeral user ID
approximate location (country, region, timezone)
GPT identifier
Data Returned by the App
The App returns only publicly available electronic component information, including:
component name and manufacturer
pricing and availability from distributors
stock quantities and lead times
links to datasheets and component metadata
The App does not return personal information, internal identifiers, or diagnostic system data.

Under certain U.S. state privacy laws, the following categories of information may be processed:
