The Max Labs Project Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 2022
The Max Labs Project (“TMLP,” or “we” or “us”) publishes and supports educational materials
for students and educators through its websites: themaxlabsproject.com, MaxzPlace.com,
MaxProfs.org and themaxslabsprojectshop.com. No cookies are used at any TMLP site.
TMLP is a small, young outfit dedicated to safely providing unique, enriching learning materials
in good faith. We never collect any personally identifiable information except name, email
address and school name (used to help issue updates/corrections if/when needed) and we
never do or will disclose or sell any of this or any other information to any third party.
We use a third party, PayPal, to process payments and they share buyers' names, email
addresses, and shipping addresses with us as part of a purchase notification for each
transaction. But we use this information only for sales tax compliance and we never do or will
disclose or sell this or any other information to any third party. PayPal provides an extensive
privacy policy (https://www.paypal.com/myaccount/privacy/privacyhub) and they employ
industrial-grade security to keep transaction data safe and secure
(https://www.paypal.com/re/webapps/mpp/paypal-safety-and-security ).
When using our materials, students are directed to obtain and use software services provided
by Salesforce, Inc. which provides industrial-grade security (https://security.salesforce.com/)
and an extensive privacy policy (https://www.salesforce.com/company/privacy/). But no
personal information other than name, email address and general location (country and zip)
are collected by Salesforce to obtain these accounts for students using our materials.
In the course of using our materials, students may install and utilize a grading app provided by
TMLP for grading the work they do in their Salesforce account and sharing the results,
identified by providing their student ID, with their instructor. Sharing is direct student-to- instructor, via email or LMS, etc. and TMLP has no access to this information unless granted
explicitly by the student for purposes of receiving support/assistance.
In the course of using our materials, students may choose to explicitly grant TMLP access to
their Salesforce account and associated information for purposes of receiving
support/assistance but no personal information is collected in the course of such activities.
Occasionally, TMLP may seek student permission to collect grading information for the
purposes of pedagogical research studies but in such cases the information will be collected
only with explicit consent and will be anonymized and shared only in statistical summary form.
Students are invited to share their feedback with TMLP through online survey forms but this is
always optional. The information provided on the survey forms is totally anonymous unless
students choose to provide an email address which would only ever be used to notify them of
winning a random prize drawing for survey respondents. We periodically share the
anonymized feedback with the students' instructor(s) (based on school name provided) but we
never do or will disclose or sell any of this or any other information to any third party.
